Todd A. Williams

Todd A. Williams graduated from CCC-Columbus in 1987 with a fine arts degree. He transferred to the Kansas City Art Institute where he earned bachelor of fine arts degree. A graduate of Central City High School, he is the owner of Todd A. Williams Fine Art. 

In 2012, Williams began his “Legacy of Nebraska” project wherein he created at least one painting from each of the state’s 93 counties. According to Nebraska Public Media, Williams “traveled to every county in the state to research, interview and discover what should be painted to represent that 1/93rd of Nebraska.” The ambitious five-year project was completed in 2017 for Nebraska’s sesquicentennial.  

Since then, the works have been put on display periodically at galleries and museums throughout the state. Also, a book containing all the paintings and the historical context for each one was printed in 2017. The book was so popular, it quickly sold out and a second edition was published in 2022. 

In looking back at his time at the Columbus Campus, Williams credits art instructor Dick Abraham, who taught at CCC for 30 years, for inspiring him. “I had asked him in my first semester if I could help him in the student assistant program and that was a good fit for me,” said Williams. “It kind of helped settle me a little bit and find my footing. As the semesters started to come together, I developed a good relationship with him, and it helped me get to know other students that weren’t even in my classes.”  

Because of the positive experience he had, Williams eagerly invites as many people as he can to seriously consider CCC. “It is a great place to get your feet wet and study your craft,” Williams said.
